*Additional fees, such as default fees, or debt collection fees can apply if you miss a payment or do not comply with the terms of the loan agreement. These fees will be clearly disclosed upfront in your loan agreement and can be found below and in the FAQ.

Frequently asked questions about our Personal Loans

Please provide proof of ID, proof of address, contact details, and employment details. We ask you to show us your income and expenses via a secure link which provides us with details of your bank statements.

Yes, you can. We will need to sight your passport and work visa. The term of any loan cannot exceed three months prior to your visa end date.

No, we do not contact employers.

We do credit checks for Personal Loan applications. This will leave a general finance enquiry on your credit file. However, as long as your current financial situation is stable, we will consider your loan application.

We consider bad credit as a factor in assessing loans, but this is not the only basis for our decision. If your credit history is a problem, we’ll be straight with you and if your situation changes you are welcome to apply again.

You can apply for a personal loan online, or in-store. The application process is easy and can be completed within 10 minutes.  

We cannot confirm how long it will take us to assess your application but rest assured our team is working hard to provide an outcome for you as quickly as we can. Application assessments can be completed on the same day as your appointment if all documents required for the application are provided.

Some fees may apply:

  • $13.95 default fee
    This is payable to us per each scheduled direct debit repayment is returned to us unpaid by your bank.
  • $15 final notice fee
    This is payable if we need to write to you providing notice that your loan is in default and enforcement action may commence.
  • Debt collection fees
    If you breach your loan agreement, we may engage a third party to recover outstanding funds and you will be required to pay the fees charged by the third party.

When you input your credentials, they are encrypted, sent to your bank to grant us read-only access to your transaction history, and then they are permanently erased.

To review the status of your application, please log in to your customer portal.

Cash Converters takes a lot of information into account when making a decision. Unfortunately, we can’t always provide you the exact reasons that your application was refused.

Your income may not be sufficient at this time, your credit history might not be suitable or we may have found another issue with your application or banking information.

However, in the future, if your situation changes you are welcome to apply again.

A top-up is a new loan, with a portion of the funds used to settle your previous loan balance. We need to make sure the top-up is enough to clear your existing loan balance AND cover what you need the new loan for.

We normally prefer you have been paying your existing loan with us for at least 6 weeks before applying for a top-up, but we will occasionally consider going earlier for customers with good history who have an urgent need.

Your username will usually be the email address you last used to apply for a loan.

To reset your password, click the ‘Reset Your Password’ button.

An email will be sent to the email address on file, allowing you to reset your password and login. If you do not receive the password reset email, please check your email’s junk or spam folder.

Personal Loans fees and example

Our Personal Loans come with:

  • A one-time setup fee of $106
  • A $4 weekly account keeping fee
  • An interest rate of 49.95% per year

Example:
If you borrow $1,000 over 9 months, the total fees would be $262.40 (that’s the $106 setup fee plus $4 each week for about 39 weeks).
Interest you’ll pay depends on how often you make repayments and will be approximately*:

  • Monthly: $250.82 in interest
  • Fortnightly: $236.35 in interest
  • Weekly: $224.11 in interest

Your total repayment would be:

  • Monthly repayments: $1,513.22
  • Fortnightly repayments: $1,498.75
  • Weekly repayments: $1,486.51

The minimum loan term is 3 months and a maximum of 24 months.
*Different factors can affect the total amount of interest you pay, please refer to your contract to find out more.
